What inspired this piece? 
I was eating fish and was thinking about America. I started painting and realized it looked a lot like American Gothic so I rolled with it.
 
What does this piece represent to you as an artist? 
There's a certain level of attempting to surprise myself with each piece I start. I often work off of a doodle or sketch that's just materialized from shapes and layering. But also, I just like things that are cartoonish and terrifying at the same time.

What does this piece aim to say? 
"I think you forgot to Flush."
